Ferns underfoot, tall trees all around, and the house set in among them, angled for privacy. It isn’t bookable yet. We’re building it now, and the opening date is still to be announced. A tiny cabin in the Catskills woods
This is a forest stay, a true cabin in the woods. The lot is a block of dense hardwood woods, and the cabin sits inside it, not on top of it. We picked the exact spot for the house on the ground, then turned it so the front faces away from the nearest neighbor. When we cleared the building site, we left a band of trees standing around the house as a natural privacy screen.
What you get is shade, birdsong and green light in summer, bright color in fall, and bare, quiet woods in winter. Come to unplug and reconnect: with the people you came with, and with a slower pace.
Juniper Ridge is the first new cabin in the Mountain Milla series: a small modern home on its own land, built for guests who want a wellness retreat, not a resort. It sits next to the original Mountain Milla cabin on Blenheim Hill. We sold that one, so it’s no longer ours to book.
What the stay will offer
We’re still finalizing the details, but the plan is a tiny cabin with a hot tub, a wood-fired sauna and a private trail, all wrapped in forest. Here’s what the stay will have once it’s built.
- Privacy first. About five acres of maple, beech and birch forest around one small cabin, with trees kept standing between the house and the outside world.
- A modern tiny house with a full bath and a kitchenette.
- A hot tub under the trees.
- A wood-fired sauna, in the Mountain Milla wellness tradition.
- An outdoor movie theater for clear nights.
- A fire pit close to the house, so it’s easy to use on cold nights too.
- A pizza oven outdoors, for slow dinners by the fire.
- A private hike on the property’s own trail through the woods.
- Quiet. A rural hill in Schoharie County, far from the busier Catskills corridors.

Inside the tiny cabin
The cabin is the Field + Fold Juniper cabin: a single-story, 361-square-foot studio. One open room for sleeping and living, plus a full bath and a kitchenette. Field + Fold builds the cabin, and it will be set on its foundation at Juniper Ridge, among the trees. Occupany begins October 2026.
- Large windows and glass doors that open to the covered porch, so the woods are part of the room
- Natural cedar siding and a standing-seam metal roof
- Solid ash hardwood floors
- A tiled bathroom with a rainfall shower
- A kitchenette with an induction cooktop
- A small covered porch
- A studio layout, meaning one open room, not separate bedrooms

Where it is
Juniper Ridge is on Blenheim Hill Road, in the Town of Blenheim, in Jefferson NY. It’s in the northern Catskills of Schoharie County. - Mine Kill State Park, about 15 minutes. It’s a 650-acre park on the edge of the Schoharie Reservoir, with hiking, fishing and kayaking. The star is Mine Kill Falls, an 80-foot waterfall in a rocky gorge. We wrote up a Mine Kill and Blenheim day in our sister guide, a weekend in Stamford and Blenheim.
- Vroman’s Nose, about 30 minutes north near Middleburgh. A short, steep loop trail up to a flat, open cliff top, and a local favorite.
- Gilboa Fossil Museum, about 20 minutes. It’s home to fossils from one of the oldest forests on Earth.
- Hobart Book Village, about 20 minutes. A small town full of used and vintage bookshops. Check hours before you go.
- Stamford, about 15 minutes, for a café stop and a weekends-only smokehouse. Check hours.
- Windham, about 45 minutes, for skiing in winter and small-town browsing the rest of the year.
